St. Brigid's Crosses

At the end of January St. Daigh's NS and St. Cholmcille's NS came together for their yearly tradition of making St. Brigid's crosses. 6th and 5th class participated together with their teachers and local volunteers. These crosses were then sold after mass at Mary Mother of Mercy Church, Inniskeen on St. Brigid's weekend. As always this was a very successful and rewarding activity for all involved.

The money from the sales were donated to Afri's St. Brigid Peace Cross Campaign and raised an impressive €520.
Well Done to all who took part!

Grandparents Day

Sixth class welcomed their Grandparents to St. Daighs National School at the end of January. During this time the children enjoying chatting to their grandmothers and grandfathers over cups of tea and baked treats. They watched videos of Inniskeen back in days. They had a little prayer service to thank God for their Grandparents together with a display of music and songs from the St. Daigh’s Ensemble conducted by their music teachers, Sean and Caroline Walsh.
Through Grandparents Day the children were able to appreciate their grannies and grandads for their gift of knowledge and life experiences which they were happy to share with the children on this special day. We would like to thank Mrs Cumiskey, Miss Monaghan and Master for organising such a memorable day for all.
